Happy autumn from the Hamilton CLT Board of Directors! As we begin our fifth operating year, we are pleased to update you on the progress of our first project at 278 Wilson Street, in addition to other updates and announcements.
278 Wilson Street Update
As you may remember, we acquired possession of our first property at 278 Wilson in the late fall of 2017. The HCLT partnered with Habitat for Humanity Hamilton to create an affordable housing initiative, based on input gathered in our community visioning sessions in 2014.
Now, just a year from acquiring possession, the site has been transformed from an empty lot in the downtown core into a beautiful new home. The move-in date is fast approaching, and we were thrilled to meet the lovely family at the project kickoff earlier this spring.
Board Membership Update
For those of your who have been with us from the beginning, you’ll know we’ve come a long way from our inception in 2014. This new year sees some changes to our board structure as we welcome and congratulate founding Director Allison Maxted as the new Chair of the Board. Former Chair Michael Borrelli will be taking on the position of Treasurer, and we are pleased to welcome our new Secretary, Christine Yachouh, as well as fellow first-time Directors, Rabia Ahmed, Deanna Allain, and Dr. Rob Fiedler.
As we explore opportunities for our next project, the HCLT is looking for your help. Donations are always appreciated, and integral to supporting our current and future projects, and of course we always appreciate new volunteers to help promote and expand the work we do within our community! Please donate here (charitable tax receipts available) to help cover future land acquisition and ongoing administrative costs.
Keep an eye out for more good news in 2019, and as always, thank you for your support!
